How Far Will You Go...

St. John Burroughs had it all. A successful journalism career, a long string of lovely companions, never-ending liquor, and pills in all rainbow candy colors. Until one day his destiny comes knocking at his door with the evidence of a lifelong mistake he must atone for or face the end of all he holds dear. Even John knows that sometimes not choosing is a choice. How far will you go to delay the harsh inevitable?

Happy Halloween!

Posted By Morgan on October 24, 2009

Things have been mighty quiet on over here, let’s see if we can change that!

10-9 celebrated it’s five year anniversary on…you guessed it October 9th!  There was far too many sugary snacks and savory delights that day that obliterated my sensible eating habits but OH what a way to go!

A few small updates the prequel short story 10-9: One (ever so aptly titled) is slowly but surely undergoing a round of edits with a fine tooth comb. Go figure I find one missing or miused word in my proof copy that pretty much makes the whole thing a wash. Perfectionist!  I am one.

There’s been a couple other short stories that have been drafted namely the rather Hate Crime Awareness piece I Can’t Change This, and the silly and fluffy pieces Hold On To Me and Devil In Disguise. All three will hopefully pass my horrifying round of edits and be posted here in the next few days.  They’re still in the first draft stage but I’d like to correct the overly glaring errors.

The main 10-9 story I’m happy to say has clocked a whopping 105 pages so far once I plugged in all my random scenes into one document.  Who knew writing in a non-linear fashion could work! It’s slow going and there’s been a few bumps, bruises, creative stalls and just plain creative ADD but things are shaping up. :3

And now I leave you with a little ray of sunshine, cute lil’ teenagerly Ahimsa all dolled up for Halloween. :D   Enjoy!

10-9 has undergone a bit of a renaissance.

What started as a webcomic that suffered from sporadic updates and my own burn out, the nigh insurmountable backstory and where the story was ultimately going to conclude paralyzed me with over stimulation.

Like a bit of an epiphany I discovered I rather enjoy writing 10-9 over drawing it. Thus came the decision to make 10-9 an illustrated novel instead of a graphic novel. What’s the difference? Simple, instead of being told in strictly comic form, an the new format features a single to a handful of artful flourishes of single drawings. Perhaps sometimes digital paintings, or maybe photography, or even the occasional coupling of handwritten pages to accompany the prose narrative.

The novel is donation based, while there are short stories free for reading, the meat and potatoes of 10-9 will be only granted access on donation. Those that donate to the site, will be able to view to exclusive content from additional art, physical prints, and even bound copies of the completed chapters or novels or any other products that happen to cross my mind. Either way you can choose to be a ‘light reader’ of 10-9 or you can fully immerse yourself in the captivating world for the complete experience.

Donations are going to an extremely good cause, for starters to keep the server’s lights on, and secondly for me to put gas in my car, feed myself, pay for college, pay my medical bills (and believe me I have more than a ‘few‘.) and offset final printing costs of 10-9 itself.
